I believe that we Real Estate Agents often don’t realize the opportunities we have to expand our services to our clients. By becoming aware and somewhat knowledgeable about areas outside our own we continue to serve beyond what is expected. People currently are buying second homes at younger ages, as well as seniors are retiring at a growing rate, all with more money available than prior generations. Many are currently dreaming, researching or actually taking the initial steps in relocating or buying a second home in warmer dryer areas. Knowing your client’s stage of life, what their plans are and offering information with options is often comforting to those that are the decision makers…. As an example recently I learned that the cost of living in Palm Springs is 23% higher than that of Seattle, but the cost of living in Phoenix is 18% less than Seattle, Good To Know. Granted statistics like these are always changing but it’s information that possibly they haven’t thought of and is available and often updated on the internet. We in the business of Real Estate are often the resource and help that is life changing for our clients…. As a thought, currently I’m encouraging northern cold weather clients in their thirties, forties and even fifties to buy a second home as a vacation rental that they can use as well. Then later in their life they can convert the home to a primary or secondary personal residence when they decide to retire and the home is paid down on or completely off.
